Magic (Magia)

Magic, otherwise known as sorcery, is a conceptual system that holds that human beings have the ability to control the natural world. They can do so by employing mystical, paranormal, or supernatural techniques. Although there are many different classifications of magic, those who believe in it attest to its validity based on a series of truths, such as the fact that there are natural forces that cannot be detected by science. Some also say that the mystical power present in all things is also magic.

Magic can be performed through a series of ways. Some magic implies the manipulation of the elements, by using the magician’s will or utilizing symbols or objects that represent the elements. Others use magic through the manipulation of energy of the human body. The most famous type of magical practice is the spell, which consists of a formula employed to obtain a specific effect. Spells are included in the category of psychological magic if they seek to influence other people's minds to do the magician's will. They are considered illusionary magic if they seek to conjure the manifestation of various wonders. Another well-known practice is divination, through which information about the past, present, or future is sought. Necromancy, though less popular, is another practice which involves summoning and speaking with the spirits of the dead.
