Crystal Therapy (Cristales)

Crystal therapy, often called gemstone therapy, is an alternative healing technique that aims to strengthen the body using various forms of natural crystals. The theory works on the basis that gemstones carry vibration. By placing vibration near the body, any imbalances in the body’s aura can be rectified.

The use of crystals for therapeutic purposes has a long history. Crystals have been known to be used for many religious ceremonies in the Native American population as well as in cultures of the Far East. Crystal therapy itself has its roots in the Hindu religion and was also very much utilized in medieval medical practices. In the 13th and 14th centuries, gemstone elixirs were made from water and powdered gemstones and prescribed for a variety of ailments.

It is said that rocks and gemstones contain spiritual and healing properties that can be tapped into a variety of ways. Crystals can be carried or worn on the person, or they can be placed in a location where their healing vibrations can be felt by others nearby. The most common healing technique used by healers is the placement of stones on their clients' reclined bodies to balance the chakras and aura. In this technique, gems, stones, and crystals are laid on the body over each of the seven chakra points. Each chakra resonates to a particular color, so by laying a stone of that color over the chakra, the chakras align and are balanced, which allows the body to heal.

According to crystal healers, specific stones must be aligned with the seven chakra centers of the body in order to restore balance and promote health. The seven centers are:

The Root Chakra. It is represented by the Obsidian stone.

The sacral chakra. It is represented by the stone Carnelian.

The solar plexus chakra. It is represented by the stone Citrine.

The heart chakra. It is represented by the stone Peridot.

The throat chakra. It is represented by the stone Aquamarine.

The brow chakra. It is represented by the stone Lapis lazuli.

The crown chakra. It is represented by the stone Amethyst.
