Colon Hydrotherapy (Hidroterapia Colonica)

Colon hydrotherapy is a treatment which exercises and tones the bowel, aiding the evacuation of waste during and after treatment and reducing toxins in the body. In the colon, wastes are excreted from the alimentary tract, the lymphatic system, and the bloodstream. It is important to keep bowel function regular to avoid the effect of toxins building up in the body. However, over the years the walls of the colon can become encrusted with waste, making its function inefficient. When not functioning properly, the digestive system becomes compromised, as well as every living cell and organ. Undigested foods begin to putrefy and create an over acidic condition and the accumulation of toxins or poisons build up in the lymph and bloodstream. This leads to all sorts of disorders such as inflammation, impaired blood supply, obstruction, peptic ulcers, overweight, irritable bowel syndrome, and eve colon cancer.

Through colon hydrotherapy, the large intestine is irrigated with water to clean out the years of toxins and accumulated waste lining the walls. This improves the colon’s function and provides additional benefits such as clearer skin, more mental clarity, and fewer headaches. Circulatory, immune, inflammatory and weight problems can also often improve with colonic treatments. Colon hydrotherapy is said to help with allergies, headaches, asthma, bloating, indigestion, dermatitis, eczema, and constipation, among other problems. Unlike enemas and laxatives, colon hydrotherapy is not habit-forming and improves the tone of the colon.

The therapy begins with a brief rectal exam. Next, a speculum is introduced to open the sphincter. An inlet and outlet tube is attached to the outside of the speculum, with water going in and water and waste out. Water is then fed into the lower bowel while the patient is on the left side, then after a few minutes the patient turns on his/her back, while the therapist uses massage techniques to assist in the elimination of waste and gas pockets. The colonic treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The therapy might involve one session or several sessions spread out over a period of time.
