Colloidal silver is a liquid suspension of microscopic particles of silver that when combined with purified water is used as a natural antibiotic. It disables the enzyme that one-celled bacteria, viruses, and fungi need for their oxygen metabolism, thus destroying disease-causing organisms in the body. Within a few minutes, the pathogen suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of the body by the immune, lymphatic, and elimination systems. Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, which destroy beneficial enzymes in the body, colloidal silver has no effect on these tissue-cell enzymes. It also kills parasites, because they have a one cell egg stage in their reproductive cycle. Medical research has also shown that silver promotes more rapid healing, with less scar tissue, and silver products are also said to improve digestion.

The quality of the colloidal silver product is very important. The ideal color of colloidal silver is a golden yellow; a darker color indicates inferior quality. If a colloidal silver product contains a stabilizer or lists trace elements other than silver, or if it needs to be shaken, it is of inferior quality. Also, high concentrations of silver do not kill disease germs more effectively than the normal range of 3 to 5 parts per million.

Colloidal silver can be applied directly to cuts, scrapes, and open sores, or on a bandage for warts. It can be applied on eczema, itches, acne, or bug bites. Some have used colloidal silver in a nasal spray mister to clear the nasal passages. Spray bottles can also be used for skin, sore throat, eyes, and burns. Taken orally, the silver solution is absorbed from the mouth into the bloodstream, then transported to the body cells. It is then eliminated by the kidneys, lymph system, and bowel after several weeks. Although colloidal silver is a safe natural product, long-term intake of silver products may result in a condition known as argyria, which causes a blue or gray discoloration in the skin.
