Chakras are energy centers beginning at the base of the spinal column and moving upward to the top of the skull. There are seven energy centers which connect the metaphysical and biophysical energy of the body, creating a relationship between the positions and functions of the chakras and of the various organs. These chakras regulate the flow of energy through our system, interacting with the physical body through the endocrine system and the nervous system. Each of the seven chakras is associated with one of the seven endocrine glands and with a group of nerves called plexus. Each chakra is thus associated with particular parts of the body and particular functions within the body.
The seven chakras are:
The crown chakra: It is considered the chakra of consciousness.
The heart chakra: It is related to love and wellbeing.
The root chakra: It is associated with the parts of consciousness related to security, survival, and trust. When this chakra is in its clear state, the person is able to feel secure. When there is tension in this chakra, the person experiences insecurity or fear.
The solar plexus chakra: It is associated with the parts of consciousness related to perceptions of control and freedom.
The throat chakra: It is associated with the parts of consciousness concerned with expressing and receiving.
The sacral chakra: It is associated with base emotion and creativity.
The brow chakra: It is considered the chakra of time and awareness.
Each chakra is associated with particular parts of human consciousness. When tension is felt in the consciousness, it is also felt in the chakra associated with that part of consciousness experiencing the stress. The nerves of the plexus detect the tension and transmit it to the parts of the body controlled by that plexus. If the tension continues or worsens, symptoms appear on a physical level, leading to an unhealthy physical state. Understanding the chakras thus allows people to understand the relationship between consciousness and the body, to allow for a change that will help release the stress-creating symptoms, and return to a healthy state. Through a better understanding of the system of chakras, it is thus possible to heal the body.
