My mom has been battling with depression for the last couple of years. she's been going to shrink after shrink, and even taken different meds, but nothing seems to work. the meds do help a little, but I don't want her to have to medicate herself all her life. on the other hand, she can't stay like this. I thought maybe an alternative treatment might work. Does anyone know any ways to treat depression? any therapy or treatment?

Yes, you can use Dr Bach's Flower Therapy to improve her medical treatment and you will see a great change in her mood or you can try going to an Homeopathic Dr to treat her as a whole (body-mind-spirit).
You can also use Reflexology to armonize her energy and hormonal system as well as Acupuncture, because we are ENERGY, and when our system collapses, all main functions collapse, specially our state of mind and spirit.
Homeopathy and Chinese medicine explains much more than Occidental medicine and can turn around her case. Please continue seeing a traditional Dr, so as to keep note of how is she improving her health, but try to see her as a WHOLE (body-mind and spirit) which needs help and to be treated.
Best of luck to you and your mom.

I'm not too familiar with homeopathy, but I guess that since you don't want your mother to continue taking anything, reflexology or the other treatments suggested by adreati would be better.
