how can alternative medicine help in a post-op scenario? Are there some therapies that work better than others to deal with the pain/side effects of an operation? has anybody tried it?

Some alternative therapies can help in that they help you mentally prepare yourself for a surgery, so that your body feels less of a shock. If your body receives less of a shock, it is easier to recover. Think about when you do something you´re scared to do, or don´t exactly know how to do. Don´t you take a deep breath, to try and calm yourself? Well, that´s what therapy can do. Calm you, so that your body doesn´t suffer the operation and its side effects as much. This doesn´t mean that you come out of suergery as good as new, with all the energy in the world. It just means you´re better prepared to deal with the outcome, and therefore don´t suffer as much. Try empowering therapies, try yoga or hypnosis, to train your body to become stronger. I haven´t had to undergo any sort of surgery so I can´t give you a first-hand account of how alternative therapy works in this sort of case, but I think anything that helps you take greater control of your life and understand your body can help in this sort of situation.

Try homeopathy: arnica is one, but you have to start taking it before the surgery. My homeopath also recommended a second remedy, but I can't remember what it is now.
