We are blessed with a wonderful vessel through which we can express and experiment life and love: our body. This month, we wish to reflect upon physical wellbeing, highlighting the importance of the self and its proper care.

Although much has already been said about the body, always from different viewpoints, we simply wish to remind you that there is an integrative way to take care of it. This is something that Eastern philosophies have told us time and time again, to help us prevent disease by maintaining the body’s natural balance without having to wait for illness to strike in order to take action and seek medical help. We’ve already mentioned various techniques which may help in this respect, such as ayurveda, homeopathy, acupuncture, and a series of other disciplines which offer a comprehensive view of physical wellbeing.  

What we propose is that throughout this month you take a closer look at your body and learn to detect and interpret the messages it sends you; don’t wait until something breaks down before you pay attention to it. Nature always gives us a warning when one of its elements is out of balance, and our body is of course no exception, since it obeys the laws of nature just as the oceans, the fields, and the animals do.

Polarity expert Jorge Montiel says that these warnings start to appear in the distance, for example when your neighbor’s car breaks down and later the same day, your computer stops working in the office. You notice these minor events, but fail to give them any real importance because they don’t affect you much. But the following week, everything at home starts to break down, the washing machine, the car, your computer…And because this time it’s causing you problems, you decide to pay more attention: something is telling you that it’s time to put things in order, to find balance, make some adjustments. The problem is that we tend to take these warnings as a streak of bad luck, or as a sign that maybe there’s something wrong with the electricity at home. Have you stopped to think about what these warnings are telling you? If what’s happening could be a sign? 

If we don’t pay attention and we don’t try to find the not-so-hidden message, these events will affect us more and more, until they upset our body’s delicate balance. The instability in your surroundings will start to manifest itself in your body as pain and physical discomfort. Montiel tells us that the lack of balance is first revealed at a distance, outside yourself, and the more you don’t pay attention to it, the closer it gets, until it inevitably reaches you. At that point, you will be forced to stop, look inside yourself, and change whatever isn’t working…whatever is stopping you from attaining happiness.
